This khutbah was given on Dec. 18, 2015. The penalty for adultery in Islam has been the subject of much criticism by non-Muslims. Nouman Ali Khan places the early verses of Surat An-Nur in context, explaining that the Quran has only specified punishment in this world for crimes that damage society as a whole. While adulterers must be whipped 100 times, it is only on condition that four witnesses see them commit this public display of indecency, which is criminalized by all societies. The verses also mete out an almost equal punishment to those who so much as hint that a woman has committed adultery without seeing the sin being committed with their own eyes. This is the ultimate testament to the gravity of slander in Islam. for more lectures by Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan.
